Everyone loves a comic graphic novel!

v for vendettaGraphic novels are very popular and public libraries & most school libraries now carry a wide range of graphic novels to cater for both their teen & adult audience. However graphic novels are more than Superman, The Simpsons, or Garfield.

There are some wonderful graphic novels that tell stories of war, politics, love and mystery just as regular fiction does. Many have been nominated for or won major book awards. Notably Maus which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1992 and American Born Chinese which won the Michael L. Printz Award in 2007.

Here are just some of the many graphic novels that are available in the library that I think are worthwhile taking the time to check out. (click on first image to get a closer look)
