RECOMMENDATIONS/BOOK REVIEW (Staff, 7-9, 10-12)
Inside by J.A Jarman
Why that book?
I chose it because it sounded confronting, a book I could hopefully recommend to boys to read and it was new, so I thought I’d give it a go.
What’s it about?
It centres around the main character, Lee, who has committed a pretty terrible crime and has been sentenced to do “time” at a youth detention centre.
Lee thinks he’s tough and can handle himself but soon finds out life inside isn’t going to be easy and he needs to make some life changing decisions about what type of man he wants to become.
Would you recommend it to others?
Its an easy read and it moves along very quickly. I would recommend the book to readers in the 13-16 age group, it wasn’t what you would describe as enjoyable reading but it was confronting and would interest boys who like real life characters.
Thankyou, Ms Anderson, for your review.
