What do you think is more fantastical – a tale created from the imagination or the undiscovered wonders of our own world?

A new film, created by the  American  Museum of Natural History, is part of an exhibition, Visions of the Cosmos: From the Milky Ocean to an Evolving Universe, at the Rubin Museum of Art in Manhattan through May 2010.

This film shows the known universe as mapped by astronomical observation. Every satellite, moon, planet, star and galaxy is represented to scale and in its correct, measured location according to the best scientific research to date.  The data is maintained and curated by research astrophysicists at the American Museum of Natural History as the Digital Universe Atlas.
