Great stuff on authors!

 AUTHOR/NEWS/RECOMMENDATIONS                                                  (Staff, 7-9, 10-12)

There are some great (and, if you prefer to use more specific language, informative and engaging) stuff (material) that has recently surfaced in blogs and things.

firstly, the CMIS Fiction Focus blog has done a superlative job with their spotlight on John Green. This post has the biggest linkfest you’ve ever seen, taking you to his website, his blog, videos, reviews, photos, etc. – I’m not even going to attempt to link to more of this; just read the post.

I enjoyed listening to John Green answering readers’ questions. John speaks very honestly, as if he’s known you for years and just chatting to you in your kitchen. He uses language the way he wants to, very comfortably, eg. “You have very wonderfully given me some questions to answer… “

Also in the CMIS Fiction Focus blog, the most recent post links to two goodies:

Morris Gleitzman talking about Grace from his session at the Perth Writers Festival, on ABC Perth radio;

and Melina Marchetta talking about her new book, The piper’s son, on ABC Radio National Life Matters.

And for those of you who have enjoyed reading (or intended to read) Scott Westerfeld’s Leviathan, in the Steampunk genre,

don’t forget it’s Steampunk Week. Well, according to the Book Smugglers, who decided it had to happen, and have some brilliant information on Steampunk literature here, here, here and here.

That’s all for now. Don’t forget to email your creative (or even discursive) writing so we can feature you in our Student Writing section!
